This Privacy Policy explains how Ingredio ("Ingredio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Ingredio mobile application and related services (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information. When you create an account you sign in with Apple, Google, or your email address (using a one-time verification code). We collect your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive an Apple private relay email instead.
• Profile information. Optionally, your first name, last name, and a username. When you first use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name with us, which we store as your profile name.
• Recipe content. Recipes you create, import, scan, generate, or save; folders you create; meal-plan entries; and any recipe cover photos you upload.
• Links you import. When you import a recipe, the link or shared post URL you provide.
• Photos and images. When you use the Scan or Image features, the photos you capture or select are processed to extract a recipe. When you set a custom recipe cover, the image you choose is uploaded to your account.
• Support communications. Information you send us if you contact support.

Information collected automatically

• Technical and log data. To operate and secure the App, our hosting provider processes limited technical information such as IP address, device/app version, and timestamps when your app communicates with our servers.
• On-device storage. We store your login session tokens, preferences, and a cached copy of your recipe library on your device so the App works smoothly and offline.

We do not use advertising identifiers, and the App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not integrate third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features.
• Authenticate you and sync your recipes, folders, and meal plans across your devices.
• Power recipe import, scanning, and AI generation (see Section 3).
• Respond to your support requests.
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and security risks, and to operate our service.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. AI Features and Third-Party Processing

Ingredio's import, scan, and generate features use artificial intelligence. To produce a recipe, the relevant input — such as the link you shared, the photo you scanned, or the prompt/preferences you entered — is sent through our backend to our AI provider, OpenAI, which processes it and returns structured recipe text and, in some cases, generated images. This processing happens on our servers using our own API credentials. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, content submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run the App, and only as needed:

• Supabase — hosting, authentication, database, and file storage for your account and recipe content.
• OpenAI — AI processing for the import, scan, and generate features (see Section 3).
• Apple and Google — only if you choose to sign in with their services, for authentication.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public, and in connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition).

5. Data Retention

We keep your account and recipe data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data and recipe content associated with your account are permanently deleted from our systems, except where we are required to retain limited information to comply with legal obligations. Photos submitted for scanning are processed to generate a recipe and are not retained as a permanent gallery in your account unless you save them as a recipe cover.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Profile → Delete Account inside the App.
• Access and correct. You can view and edit your profile information in the App.
• Sign out. You can sign out at any time; you can also use the App's browsing features without an account.
• Device permissions. You control Camera and Photos access in your device's Settings, and can revoke them at any time.
• Regional rights. Depending on where you live (e.g., the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated access, and database row-level security, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process and store your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9. Children's Privacy

Ingredio is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
